Description
Aquaforest Lava Soil 5Ltr
Aquaforest Lava Soil is a natural soil based media mixed with volcanic lava, enriched with essential minerals for plants.
The natural substrate based on volcanic lava is perfect for any planted freshwater aquarium. In order to provide optimal conditions for plant growth, AF Lava Soil is also enriched with precious minerals to benefit strong growth.
This natural substrate gradually releases minerals into the water, and, due to the high porosity, also supports the multiplication of beneficial microorganisms aiding filtration.
The unique structure of Aquaforest Lava Soil facilitates enhanced root growth of aquatic plants which helps prevent the formation of anaerobic zones in which bacteria that can produce toxic hydrogen sulfide to develop.
It guarantees better water circulation in the substrate of the tank, which facilitates balanced distribution of nutrients and improves its absorption by the plants.
The substrate is thoroughly rinsed, however, after filling the aquarium with water a slight water haziness may occur. The haziness is natural, does not cause any side effects and disappears after around 12 hours.
Due to the high content of minerals, in order to avoid their accumulation, we recommend limiting the dosage of micronutrient fertilisers for the first 6 months of your aquarium set up.
If you wish you can use this plant substrate in conjunction with Aquaforest Natural Substrate
How to use Aquaforest Lava Soil:
Place approximately 7 cm layer of AF Lava Soil in the bottom of the tank, fill with water to the level of approximately. 10 cm, plant the plants and complete filling the aquarium with water. A top tip for filling without disturbing the substrate too much is to put a plate or bowel in the tanks to reduce the direct force when water is being added.
