How to lower silicate in a tank?

Sera Marin Silicate Clear

Sera Marin Silicate Clear is designed to easily and permanently binds silicate.

Silicate supports the growth of diatoms in marine aquariums which if left to its own devices can quickly smother your aquarium resulting in the loss of corals.

Not to mention it looks horrendous! If you are controlling your nitrate and phosphate level well but are still suffering then it is likely that you have a problem with high silicate levels.

Sera marin silicate clear is supplied with a practical filter media bag. Briefly rinse with running water before use then simply place in a filter or a place with good water circulation.

Alternatively you can add the media to a fluidised reactor.

Remember, good flow is key to helping combat algae. Regularly siphoning waste and algae then disposing it will also help. Ensure that lights are not being left on longer than necessary.

Sera Marin Silicate Clear Key Points

  • Permanently binds silicate
  • Remains active up to three months depending on the silicate level.
